SOVKINO 9.5MM FILMS

Another very short and simple page! We read in the December 1955 Amateur Cine World in an article "Cine Broadsheet" by a then rather young budding film historian Kevin Brownlow that the Russian film agency Sovkino had issued in 1933 via it's UK office two 9.5mm CLASSIC Russian films.

According to Kevin Brownlow the two films issued on 9.5mm in the UK in 1933 by Sovkino, the Russian film agency were: "The General Line" and "Battleship Potemkin" both in 5 reels 9.5mm silent. From what Kevin says in that ACW, the film relases were not of fantastic quality. "Sovkino's printing was not very good - 35mm sprocket holes waft several times over scenes in "The General Line", the picture is unsteady and the definition is occasionally poor.

Any further information about these releases would be appreciated! (Naturally I would be interested in buying copies!)
